Two numbers decide your plan: how many projects you run, and how many pins each one publishes.
That's the whole model. There is no credit balance, nothing expires, and you are not billed per generation. Every paid plan does the same work — the tiers differ by scale, not by whether the product works.

Checked October 2026. Annual is ten months for twelve — two months free.
The monthly figure is the daily figure across every project you're allowed, for a 30-day month. The plan cards show Projects and Pins / month; the daily figure is what paces each project day to day.
Higher tiers also prepare pins further ahead and add features:

The free plan is a plan, not an expired trial
This is the part worth being precise about.
On the free plan you keep everything you've built:
Your projects, pins, boards and history all stay. Nothing is deleted.
Analytics you've already collected stay visible.
Your AI key stays on your account, ready for when you pick a plan.
What stops is creating and publishing new pins. Your dashboard says so at the top:
Your pins are ready. Pinterest isn't seeing them.
and if you try to publish:
Publishing needs a paid plan Your projects, pins and history stay exactly as they are.
Why the free plan doesn't generate
Generation runs on your AI account (Get an AI key) — you pay OpenAI, Anthropic or Google directly, at their rates, and Pinners Haven takes no cut. Making pins that can't be published would only spend your money on nothing, so the free plan doesn't make them.
Usage shows "your headroom this billing period" — Projects used against your allowance, and Pins this month against your monthly figure, with the date it resets.
Features lists what your plan unlocks "and what an upgrade would add". Anything you have reads Included in your plan; anything you don't names the plan it comes with, like From Operator. Nothing is shown as a padlock — the differences are numbers and plan names. To move to one, Billing: change plan, cancel, and what happens to your work walks through it.
Choosing a tier
Work from how many websites you run and how often you want each one pinned.
Starter — one site, four pins a day.
Solo — up to three sites, ten pins a day each.
Operator — up to 25 sites, fifteen a day each.
Portfolio — up to 50 sites, twenty a day each.
When you hit a ceiling
When you hit a ceiling
"Monthly pin limit reached"
"You have reached your monthly limit of [N] pins. Upgrade for more." You've published your month's allowance. It resets on the date shown under Pins this month on the Billing page, and publishing picks up again then.
"Project limit reached"
"Your plan allows at most [N] project(s) — one per website. Upgrade to add more." You're at your project ceiling. Either move up a tier, or delete a project you no longer pin for. Nothing you already have is touched.
Does the plan price include AI costs?
No. Generation runs on your own AI account and you pay the provider directly; Pinners Haven adds no markup. For OpenAI, the app's own figure is "about $0.36 per pin with images, so about $11 a month for every pin a day you post." See Set up your OpenAI key.
