These are arithmetic, not forecasts. Every figure follows from the assumptions you typed — change one and the answer changes. Display-ad RPMs alone swing between $5 and $50 depending on your niche, season, and where your readers live.

Reading the result

Traffic is the output, not the plan

A pageview target is only useful once it becomes a publishing rate. That is the step most calculators leave you standing in front of.

Work backwards, not forwards

Start from the income you want, not from the traffic you have. The gap between the two is the honest size of the job — and it is usually larger than a growth target picked by feel.

Change one input at a time

Lifting a 2 % conversion rate to 3 % cuts the traffic requirement by a third. That is often cheaper than tripling your pinning — and you can see the trade instantly by editing the field.

Then divide by your pin rate

Pinterest clicks per month ÷ clicks per pin = pins per month. That last number is the one that decides whether the goal is a plan or a wish.

Questions

What people ask about this tool

How accurate is this?
The arithmetic is exact; the assumptions are yours. It divides your income goal by the rates you enter, and shows the formula it used underneath the result. What it cannot know is whether your RPM, click-through rate, or conversion rate are realistic for your niche — which is why every one of them is editable rather than baked in.
What RPM should I use for display ads?
RPM is what an ad network pays per 1,000 pageviews, and it varies more than any other input here. Published 2026 comparisons put Mediavine around $15–40 and Raptive around $18–50, with personal finance at $25–45, food at $15–25, lifestyle at $12–20. Smaller networks and AdSense-tier inventory run lower, which is why the range on this page starts at $5. If you already run ads, use your own last-90-days figure — a benchmark is a starting point, not your number.
Is RPM measured per pageview or per session?
This matters more than most people expect, and it is the easiest way to get a badly wrong answer here. Many ad networks report RPM per *session*, not per pageview — and if your readers view 1.8 pages per session, treating the two as interchangeable overstates your earnings by nearly 80%. Check which one your dashboard means before you paste the number in. If it is session RPM, divide it by your pages-per-session first.
Why does it ask what share of my traffic comes from Pinterest?
Because the pageview total is a whole-site number, and Pinterest is usually one channel among several. Setting the share converts "pageviews I need" into "clicks Pinterest needs to send me", which is the number you can actually act on when you plan how much to pin.
Why do I sometimes see a dash instead of a number?
A dash means the question has no answer with those inputs. If your conversion rate is 0 %, no amount of traffic reaches your goal — the honest response is that the number does not exist, not a very large one. Raise the rate above zero and the figure comes back.
Does it store what I type?
No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser, there is no account, and nothing you enter is sent anywhere or saved. Reload the page and it resets to the defaults.
